I recently received a 670 on the Math II subject test. Should I submit this to Harvard? I already have 2 800s (USH and Korean). The only thing that worries me is that I’m Korean, so the Korean 800 wouldn’t mean much. However, ENGLISH, not Korean, is my first language- I was born in the States and have lived here all my life. What do you guys think? Will 800 USH and 800 Korean (NOT my first language, though that’s what I’m most concerned about) meet H’s 2 subject test requirements, or should I send my Math II 670 in? Would a 670 kill my chance of getting in? (I’m going in as a Social Science major- nowhere near math). I marked English as my first language on the Common App as well. Am I over thinking this…

*Harvard explicitly states that the subject test requirement should not be fulfilled by a test in the applicant’s first language.

I would send in all 3 subject tests and let Harvard decide which two they want to use. Or, you could call the Admissions Office and ask them for their advice.

What language did you take in high school? If it’s Korean, you should be okay.

I took Spanish and French in HS - not Korean. The only reason I took the Korean subject test was because I plan on applying to Penn’s Huntsman program as a Korean target, not to use it as a subject test for Harvard. But then I tanked the Math II…

^^ I would submit all 3 tests and let Harvard choose the ones they want to use. Admissions will assume you learned Korean at home (as it won’t be on your transcript) and might exclude the Korean Subject Test. But, then again, they just might decide to consider it.
