Hi! I’m applying to Yale and I’m wondering whether I should list my 720 in World History on Common App and send it to Yale when I send my SAT scores or just pretend it doesn’t exist. My other SAT II scores are 780 Math II and 760 World History.

My possible options are:
List 720 in WH on my Common App and NOT forward it to Yale
List 720 in WH on Common App and DO send it to Yale
Not list 720 in WH on Common App and DON’T send it to Yale?

If you are sending them your SAT you have to send ALL scores for your SAT II (subject level) exams. If you are submitting the ACT w/ writing you can choose not to send it but IMHO, I would send any score over 700.

@Adamgeek: It’s not like Yale is a meritocracy and the students with the highest scores get in. Test scores are just one part of the applications process, and they are not as important as other elements in your file. See:

“Students, when we’re on the road, we often play a little kind of quiz show game with students, asking what they think is the most important part of the application. Many, many students respond, “Well, the testing must be the most important.” It’s actually one of the less important elements in the file. The testing can give you a sense of what schools are within your range, and it gives the school a sense of what students in the applicant pool are within their range. The most important part of your application — bar none, no question, any college — is your high school transcript. Probably the next most important are your teacher recommendations, particularly if you’re applying to any kind of selective college or university.”

@gibby: Thanks for that information! It makes me feel a lot better

@ YoHoYoHo: You’re absolutely right. I meant to say 760 in U.S. History.

i was originally just not going to include World History (since I already had two SAT IIs), but I thought it was look weird to have one empty space in the Testing section on my common app.

Adamgeek - If you are submitting any SATII scores, you MUST submit ALL of your SAT II scores - Yale does NOT have score choice - and that applies to SAT IIs also!

@cba: Awesomesauce. I’ll send all my SAT II scores to Yale.

Another question (Last question, I promise!): When I apply to other schools that have score-choice (like Princeton, Northwestern, Columbia), can I list World History 720 on my Common App form but then only send the schools U.S. History and Math II? Or would you not recommend doing that?

I know I’m obsessing over this. I’m a very obsessive person so I’m sorry if this is going over-paranoid.
