Submitted app already, but do they have my resume?

Despite all of Allison’s emails, I happen to be freaking out a little bit…

I finally got around to submitting my application yesterday, and I thought that my resume had been uploaded. However, now the un-editable version of my app says “If you would like to submit a r?sum?, please send it as an email attachment to supplements [at] olin.edu”

Does this mean that they do not have my resume, or is it the standard repsonse?

Thanks, and good luck!

ever_after, try to submit your resume today. I just submitted my application yesterday, too, and I did not get that message. But, since you are already done with your resume, there is no real reason to freak out. :)

wait… DDR_M@St3r…
I got the same message as everafter… and I am 100% sure I uploaded mine ( I changed it and uploaded it again about 5 times)

I just assumed that after you submit then you just see the message from last year (last years students did not have to do a resume)

This is the message I get (under FUN):

^^ I get the exact same thing, and I double checked everything several times before submitting mine. Hopefully, everything will turn out okay.

Thanks you guys!

The thing to remember also is that admissions is not out to get you. They won’t just trash your application because your resume is missing. There were a lot of hard copies of resumes that were sent this year, and to blame someone for an error in the postal system without checking would be rather cruel. If for some reason your resume wasn’t processed (though I suspect that the message was actually just the left overs from last year’s application), you’ll probably just get an email asking where it is. Allison would probably be the best to ask this, but I’m not certain how often she checks the boards.

OK - I am serious with all my “don’t freak out” emails! And ‘spiraloflife’ is right - we are not out to get you or purposely make your life difficult (contrary to popular belief).

I have been getting many emails about difficulty uploading resumes. If it weren’t the holiday season and the deadline, I’d pass them all along to IT for tech support. But that’s not really an option right now.

So here’s what my response has been - and it is the same for everyone who’s been having problems:

Email a copy of your resume (in Word, text or PDF only) to teresa.kelleher@olin.edu - yes, a real person’s email! As we process the mountains of paper that arrives in the mail, we will match up those documents with your application file; the same is true for your resume. If we do not have a resume, we will let you know - I promise! We can’t properly review your application without it!

Breathe… remember to breathe.

Allison’s just kidding – all high school students know if there is even one tiny error in an application package the student is automatically rejected. Right, Allison?

(I have a soft spot for Allison as she was the very first college admissions officer I spoke to about six months ago when WashDad Jr started his applications. I am ashamed to admit that the call was a version of the “does my kid have a profile good enough to apply to your school” question. He did apply to Olin.)
