Submitting fafsa "late": will pell grant be affected?

Hi, I just realized I was supposed to have already renewed my fafsa when it opened (I’m a college freshman). I’m planning on submitting it in the next week, but this is several months after fafsa opened for renewal. Will the amount of my pell grant and eligibility for work study be affected by me applying late (but still before the June 30 deadline)? Last year I got the highest award amount. I’m super worried about this. Just to clarify, I’m not asking about any state programs just the federal pell grant/work study.

Pell grant is an entitlement. If you are eligible for it, you will receive it. You will renew your FAFSA for school year 2018-2019. You still have time to get it done. If your family’s financial situation has not changed, you will get the same amount of pell. If you are receiving federal work study, that is given on a first come, first served basis. there is no guarantee that you will receive work study. you can just look for a non FWS job.

Pell Grant is an entitlement. You can submit any time during the academic year and still get that award if you are entitled to it.

Re: work study…that does have limited funds per campus…but you are a returning student…just get that FAFSA done ASAP. Do NOT wait until June…get the fafsa done…NOW…like this weekend.

What June 30 deadline are you talking about?

Thanks everyone!

The June 30 deadline is for the school year, so for THIS year the deadline for applying for funds is June 30, 2018. For the NEXT school year is it June 30 2019.

Agree to do it now as the WS might be gone for your school. Many schools give it out on a first to apply basis.
