Submitting SAT scores Via Collegeboard

I didn’t send my scores from CommonApp because I wanted to send it via Collegeboard because it is the official score.

Will it hurt my chances since I submitted my supplement and commonapp w/o the SAT scores?

Colleges use official score reports from testing agencies to determine admission and what you put on those apps means little to nothing. Thus, sending offical scores is required so it cannot hurt you to send them but could lead to disaster and automatic rejection if you do not. Moroever, if you are applying early action or early decision to any college with a Nov 1 app deadline, you need to go on-line with College Board and send your offical scores immediately.(Note, there are still a small number of colleges that do not require official test scores and for those what you put in app could be key but none of those are any of your higher ranked colleges.)

if you send in your SAT score report on Nov. 1, and you have registered for an SAT II in December (for scholarship consideration), does the December score get sent out once you have taken it?

On CB it says take advantage of four free score reports. So does it just send the scores present online, or also the ones you have registered for and taken at a later date?

If as part of your registration for the Dec test, you list the college as one of your automatic (free) sends, that Dec test (and any prior tests) will be sent when the Dec scores are released. If you don’t list it as a college to automatically receive scores as part of your registration for the test, you will then need to order it sent when scores come out. Fact that you have sent prior scores now does not mean any future score will be sent. CB’s rule is that when you order scores sent, it sends exisiting (including prior) scores but not future scores.

Oh wait, so if lets say I send NYU my SAT I October scores and my SAT II is still to be written, Collegeboard will automatically send out my results once they are live without me having to login and sending it manually?

That future SAT II score will only be sent automatically if you list NYU on your registration for the Dec test as a school to receive scores as soon as they are released. Again, ordering your Oct scores sent now has absolutely nothing to do with getting your Dec tests sent.

Also, I assume you know that if applying to NYU you have already met its test requirement by sending just the SAT. Its alternative to the SAT (or ACT) is to send either three SAT IIs or three AP’s.
