substituting TOEFL for SAT

Hey guys,

I just recieved my TOEFL scores online.

reading 30
listening 29
writing 28
speaking 28

total: 115.

Is that enough/over the bar for MIT? I know for standardized test scores, once you’re over the bar it doesn’t matter anymore. Will my TOEFL score make up for my lousy SAT Cr score(560)?

If i substitute my SAT w/ my TOEFL score, when I submit my SAT subject test, they will see my SAT scores anyway. so should I report them on the MIT app?

Since each school only sees 1 TOEFL score, does someone who get 100 first time but got 120 second time have a better chance than I will? (I know admissions isn’t about test scores, but there I read a thread in the international students section that says Matt said MIT discriminates between 90, 100, 110, 120).

So, what’s your opinion? Are there any MIT admissions officers on the forum that could answer the question as well?

This is the only one I can answer –

You can report your SAT score or not; if your TOEFL score is relatively better, that’s the score that will be used to evaluate you, and the CR score will be ignored.

hey Mollie!

Sorry, i just wanted to confirm,
you mean, say I got a 600 on SAT cr, and 120/120 on TOEFL, even if I report both scores, they’ll ignore the cr and use teh TOEFL to evaluate me? How do they know if I intend to substitute the TOEFL for SAT? Do they just pick the highest score (as with SAT and ACT?
