Anyone care to share their experience of applying to schools AFTER OR DURING their gap year?

I am an international gap year student with financial need, and I got into: Temple, Fordham, Clark U, Loyola New Orleans, Rhodes, and Mount Holyoke.
Other gap year students applied to schools successfully this year. Off the top of my head:
@viphan from the thread got into Duke among other schools.
@LAMuniv from the thread got into Vassar ED.
@Anduar3 from the thread got into Northwestern and Middlebury among other schools.

OP, yes, I took a gap-year and after improving my stats and maturing a little more, I guess colleges started to notice the significant improvements.
