<p>I hope so, I am in that boat.</p>
<p>ofcourse there were. Look at Yale’s SAT ranges, they range (about) 700 to 800 in each category, so that means the 25th percentile to the 75th percentile had 2100 to 2400. So 25%, atleast, of Yale admits had a 2100 or lower.</p>
<p>But you have to consider the composition of the matriculated students that may make up the 25th percentile. It may very well include legacy students, children of donors, recruited athletes, hooked candidates–any applicant that may receive a substantial boost from the admissions office itself.</p>
<p>But there also legacies, children of donors, and recruited athletes with better SATs than 2100 too.</p>
<p>So, in short, you can get selected with a 1900-2100 in the SAT provided some other parts of your application stand out.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that those who score below the 25th percentile in one category may score higher in another. Very rarely do admitted students have scores from three (or even two) sections all under the 25th percentile.</p>

<p>Sorry! I missed the point of my own argument. What I meant to convey was that for applicants without significant subjective hooks, admissions officers may be less forgiving of lapses in objective portions of the application.</p>
<p>I wonder if they be forgiving in my case .
I am so different: International and kind of old , commander in the army during war, army merits, 4 years of work experience in the field I want to major+ the regular good transcript, good TOEFL and good SAT II.</p>

<p>I’m not sure if your logic is correct. 700 is the 25th percentile for each of the three individual scores, not for a total score of 2100. I think that students admitted to Yale who score 700 in one section will likely score above that in the other sections. As such, I’m fairly certain that a total score of 2100, with individual scores of 700, would be beneath the 25th percentile.</p>

Correct, which means that person at the 25% percentile for let’s say CR “could” potentially still have a 2300, but likely at least above a 2200</p>
<p>Yeah, that’s what I mean. The percentiles aren’t based on total scores, but rather on section scores. </p>
<p>I’d estimate (without any concrete date) that the 25th-75th percentile interval for total scores would be somewhere around 2250-2350.</p>

I always assumed people get roughly the same across all three … haha it was kind of that reasoning that I plucked up the courage to apply!!</p>
