Sucking up?

Ok so, I live literally right down the street from Yale University. I’m going to be doing research this summer with TWO very big professors at Yale (both of which are family friends), I will be taking classes at the college next year, I might possibly do classes over the summer next year, and I hold a leadership position in a club that is run by Yale Undergrad students/professors.

Will Yale see this as sucking up? The only reason why I take classes there is because the only other place to take them is a little community college down the street…obv education is gonna be better at Yale.

And will other colleges see this as me not being interested in them? Any ideas?

that’s awesome that you have connections so early, which will probably help you get in if Yale is a school you’re looking at seriously…I don’t really think they’ll see this as sucking up, rather just an eager mind hungry for more knowledge (assuming that the majority of your other credentials are non-Yale affiliated)…and unless you’re applying to WashU (which really likes your interest in them), other colleges might take note of your early Yale affiliation but probably won’t think anything beyond that

summer classes don’t seem to be worth it for non-students…the classes taught by actual Yale profs are often restricted to just current students. Yale won’t see what you’re doing as sucking up, though! I’d just suggest doing something else over the summer, especially since those credits won’t count at Yale unless you want to graduate early!!!

Can’t hurt at all to do research/take classes at yale. Might help a little (or a little more than a little), but i wouldn’t count on it to get in.

Is it true that summer credits only count for early graduation? I wasn’t under that impression…

If you’re a current student they totally count! But Yale won’t give you advance credit if you take classes before you enroll as a full-time student there…as far as I know!

Well, I’m a highschool student. I don’t even know if that’s what I’m doing over the summer; its just an option. Thanks though
