For those in that discussion :-). Just started

I saw that Thursday at work.

I just watched the Pride & Prejudice (Colin Firth version) over the weekend. Was thinking about the marriage dynamics in that era, in the context of the SB/SD discussion.

I just re-watched the Colin Firth P & P too!! Still swooning!!

It would be fun to re-read Vanity Fair and pretty much any Edith Wharton in light of the discussion

I think that pretty much summed up the last thread.

One thing I did note was that Ling obviously found no evidence of women being beaten or killed anywhere. You know if she did that would be front and center. But, there was nothing on that angle at all.

I only watched for 5 seconds between break but there was an old guy playing golf, was he a real SD?

^^ Yes, he was in a platonic SD-SB relationship - no sex, just friendship and mentoring. The SB was even now in the SD’s will.

I rarely watch such things because I always find a strange slant. However, I do give Ling serious credit for covering the gamut and what she presented is exactly what I have seen or heard from actual SDs and SBs.

Ok I was surprised he openly admit he was a SD. Platonic is good.

As I stated on the last thread, most of them do admit it.

I mean on tv.

Is anyone really going to admit on tv that they paid/received money in exchange for sex?

^^ Actually, there were a good number of females and males who admitted as much in the documentary.

If I were the irs, I’d being giving them a call…

Oh they did? Interesting. I saw the guy playing golf and I almost in the vomit mode just by looking at him let alone. I feel sorry for SBs.
I was telling my husband about SD/SB and he said per the English dictionary that would indeed be considered prostitution.
