Suggest me schools Junior in High School

Trying to make a list of schools to consider applying to.

Username: Newman91
Location: Baltimore, MD
College class year: 2014
Jewish Male

My high school is competitive but it isn’t nationally ranked. 3rd ranked in the county.

GPA (my freshman year was awful like a 2.5 sophmore year was a 3.0 and this year so far is a 3.5 unweighted as of now)

Will take an AP class next year and I am in 2 honors classes now. I have great extra curriculars such as 2 years varsity basketball (am this year and will next year) will have 4 years of varsity baseball, student leader, music club member, and sports editor for the school paper.

I took a practice ACT and got a composite score of 22 but that was because I only got a 14 on the science section and I didn’t have any practice but I am going to take the SAT’s.

I am looking for a private school in a good location (either good weather or a nice city), not too big, college with at least a decent greek life, and a diverse student body is important. Looking to study some type of journalism or communications because I want to be in the sports journalism business or if not that a business major.

So help me look for schools that are good fits! Thanks!

An ideal school for me would be Tulane but I know it would be a reach for me.

Who knows, from what I’ve heard Tulane is having trouble attracting students given the annual weather threats, you may well get in.

How ironic! I’m also a Junior in high school & my dream school is Tulane! Haha But instead of Journalism I want to do pre-med.

Actually, Tulane’s Early Action applicant pool this year was about 33,000! It’s crazy how well they promoted themselves since Katrina! I’m worried that getting accepted is going to be more challenging than ever now :(

Good luck with your search though! :)

Bump, suggestions of other schools would be great as well.

bumping cmon guys

i wouldnt bank on tulane

their average act score is a 31 and the acceptance rate dropped from 44% to 27%

try to get ur act really high and maybe the gpa will balance out, but i serrrriousllly doubt you will be in at Tulane…sorry to break it to you

Eckerd College

lol I only said schools similar to Tulane I never said I thought I could get in just name me schools other than Tulane.

oh sorry i misread what you typed.

i really don’t know much then lol sorry for wasting your time

get your SATs up and then you could try Fordham (unless being jewish, you don’t want to go there)

Is Fordham really religous? Yeah I don’t know about that my parents don’t want me going to a catholic school thanks for the suggestion though.

bumppityyy

hey im also a junior! im also jewish, a sports editor for our paper, and on a varsity sport! i take 3 honors and am gonna take at least 3 APs next year for the first time.

we have a lot in common lol. im not sure how your gpa system works, but based on the system at my school mine is a bit higher than yours (not bragging, just comparing). and ill find out what i got on my act on sunday. ive been getting a lot of mail from tulane, but im turned off by their weather scares and their $30+ grand tuition. as far as business schools, im hoping to get in to u of illinois because its a great school and i can pay in-state tuition there. u of indiana would probably be my number 2, they also have a great business school and can give lots of money.

Look at Yeshiva University, they’re 100% Jewish (so not too much diversity lol) and just lost $100mill from Madoff scandal though. Other than those two setbacks, it looks like a phenomenal school, and it’s in NYC.

lol i would never want to go there im not religious or anything it just my parents don’t want me going to a roman catholic school like Notre Dame.
