I’m currently a sophomore in college. I want to transfer for next fall.

I’m looking for…
1- Medium to large school
2- good sports scene, with football
3- I’m outdoorsy, so a school near the outdoors would be nice but not needed
4- i don’t really care if its a party school or not
5- i want to major in some sort of film/video or creative writing or screenwriting
6- oh and trying to stay on the East coast

My stats are currently…
2.6 GPA (eeww i know)
i got a 1280 on the SAT’s

I have good recs and good EC (including Eagle scout)

Right now im looking at UM-College Park, Ohio State, WVU, Florida, and Tennessee…Do i have a shot at these schools and what are some others i should look at?

Going to be real rough. Where are you now? Or, is it a better school than those that you want to transfer to? If not, stay put and get your GPA for grad schools.

I think you would have no problem with WVU. Florida and Maryland will probably be pretty difficult to transfer to. Don’t know about UT and OSU. I would also look at East Carolina and Buffalo. Both have some of the programs you are looking for and I believe ECU is fairley close to some outdoor activities plus they have an excellent football scene.

Florida does not have a strong film program. You are thinking of FSU, which has a top 5 film school. IMHO, your GPA is way to low to transfer into FSU, or UF for that matter. Your best shot would be WVU.

My advice would be to stay at St. Johns until you graduate. It’s not a bad school and it has great name recognition. Try to get your GPA up so you can apply to grad school at a different school. For your major of interest, it sounds like FSU should be your #1 choice. FSU has one of the top creative writing programs in the country and one of the top film schools in the world.

I’m not going to come back to St. Johns next year. Overall its been a pretty bad experience. If i have to i’m fine with returning to community college for next fall semester if i have to. On another note would i have a chance at ASU of Arizona?
