Time to buy a new dryer. I had an ASKO washer and dryer, really not happy with either, lots of repairs and they were very costly. So I still have a front loading ASKO washer with a dryer that doesn’t work above it. Do I go for a stackable dryer (with the hope that some day I might get my upstairs laundry facilities) or go for a free standing dryer. The kids are gone (for now), how big do I need to look at?

Suggestions welcome.

I’ve had all kinds of dryers–I’ve never had strong feelings one way or another—it’s always been the washer that has driven my w/d decisions. I’d look at what you ultimately want as a washer. (my votes are for Whirlpool Duet front-loaders)

Have you check out the washer/dryer combo? I don’t know the brands, but they do both wash and dry cycles and are the size of a washer, so if the kids are gone that would be choice, throw the laundry in and walk away
