My niece is getting married in July and is trying to decide on a fabulous signature purple cocktail to have at the reception and serve from large containers. Any suggestions and recipes? D is thinking a muddled blueberry drink but lost the recipe. I don’t drink much so don’t know recipes for great cocktails.
Sangria? It’s purplish.
I love Sangria and I’m not really a drinker.
Whatever you do, don’t use food dye to get it purple.
Hmmm that’s a nice suggestion. Any other thoughts? It will be blueberry and strawberry season, which helps with the purple colored drinks.
Found these in my pins:

Yum! Those are fun too! I don’t think the marguititas would work for the huge reception (too labor intensive), but nice for other times.
Blueberry lemonade is delicious – you could add lemon-flavored vodka, limoncello, or plain vodka for a fun cocktail. And if she’s adventurous, she could try muddling some basil or mint with it!
That sounds yummy–blueberry lemonade with and without Vodka or limoncello.
@BunsenBurner, I texted that purple drink link to D. Great minds think alike!
I’m getting a hankering for one right now! You could add soda water (or citrus-flavored soda water) if you wanted a highball drink, too.
Serving a fancy drink that’s non-alcoholic is fun, so she could serve a version with no booze along with the boozy one. Blueberry limeade is also delicious…
Yes, generally we stick to non-alcoholic beverages but the bridal couple and their friends like drinking and would like an alcoholic cocktail that’s fun and purple.
Went to a fine wines etc store yesterday and the employee suggested either violet liqueur or one with raspberries–Aviator or another mixed drink. They didn’t have blueberry schnapps, which is another ingredient in some purple drinks.
Why don’t you create your own infused alcohol of choice? Blueberry or black raspberry infused vodka or gin? It’s easy to do and craft cocktails are all the rage.
I have a really good cocktail recipe at home that uses pomegranate and lime juice. It would be tempting to purple it up with something blue. I will look it up when I get home. It would be a lot more expensive to than a frozen juice/vodka concoction but also way more memorable.
Pomegranate & lime sound lovely. They really are looking for a light purple/lavender. I’m not a drinker, so really am not a good person to be researching this, but am trying to get ideas to run by my D, who is a bridesmaid and wants to help. She drinks more than I do (which still isn’t a lot).
There’s lavender liqueurs you could combine with a lavender syrup (e.g. Monin) for a really nice summer cocktail.
Something like soda water, lavender liqueur, vodka, lime, and a splash of lavender syrup over ice with a bruised mint leaf would be awesome in either highball or martini format.

edit: Just realized I linked a violet rather than lavender liqueur. It’s a gorgeous purple though!
Thanks for the suggestions–keep them coming so niece and nephew-to-be can have a nice selection.
Transfusions. Vodka, grape juice, ginger ale. Roughly equal parts, but you can adjust to your taste.
Be careful, they are very addictive.
I didn’t forget about you, HImom.
Our absolutely delicious very deeply colored “purple” drink recipe:
1 1/4 oz beet infused vodka (I roasted 5 racquetball sized beets, peeled them, sliced them in the Cuisinart, then put them in a glass container with the vodka for about a week)
1 1/2 oz pure Pomegranate juice (we bought POM)
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz lime juice
1 1/2 oz agave simple syrup (made this, too)
What I did was shake with ice and serve in a champagne coupe with a very thin slice of lemon for garnish
This ended up being a bit too sweet for us so we used 1/2 oz of agave simple syrup and floated some bubbly on top.
The problem is that purple is pretty easy to do, but lavender is tricky. Best results for the color are a clear or white background, white being better, with just a few drops of purple. White sticks you with either milk or coconut and neither would be that popular for a punch.
Though my wife is not a fan of lavender flavor, I may get some and try to infuse some vodka to see how purple it turns. This thread has inspired me, maybe a honey-lavender and possibly clear cranberry juice concoction.
Hmmm sounds like we will need to do some research.
If it were me I’d have kir or kir royal, even though it’s more on the burgundy end of purples.
