Suggestions for non drying lipstick needed.

I use Clinique lipsticks exclusively now. Years ago I found all my lipsticks (all drugstore) made my lips dry and sore feeling. I did have one from Clinique that never did. I researched ingredients about 20 years ago and found they did not include some ingredient that most other do…and that ingredient can be drying. So now, I have about 10 colors, and 3 are purchased over and over as they are my go to.

So, I went to buy a new shade and they have a new formula. I am so ticked. It’s one think to change colors (still makes me frustrated when they discontinue a favorite, but I get it), but to change the feel of the lipstick! No!

This new one is much thinner, lasts a 1/3 of the time, I can tell as soon as I put it on, it will be gone in 90 minutes. And if I drink or eat, forget it. There is a white tube of moisturizer is the middle all the way through. But the color part is different to. Some might like it, I don’t.

So, I’m on the hunt for a lipstick that is heavy enough with staying power, but non drying!

Help, please.

Oh no! I have that dry lips issue too and Clinique has always been my go to! URGH!

I’ve been using Clinique black ice for years.

But I also have a Burt’s Bees tinted lip gloss that is like a chapstick but tinted…and I love it. Better than the Clinique lipstick.

Bobbi Brown is the other I use (besides Clinique).

Try a lipstain (which WILL feel dry) and then use a tinted lip gloss or better, tinted lip balm. Do you wear it all the time?

I think you ended up with a lip balm. There are so many different types of Clinique lipstick now, but I think they do still make the classic one. My mom has the same issue (As do I) and she also only buys Clinique or Lancome. I can wear some MAC lipsticks too, but they aren’t terribly long-wearing, and I have to stay away from the mattes.

OK, I just looked them up. I was wrong. Why on earth did they do that?!?! I wonder if you could find some old formula lipsticks through Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or Overstock.com.

I like the Clinique Color Pop lipsticks, but I can’t speak to wear time. I am always eating, drinking, etc. Never lasts on me anyway.

Although I don’t wear makeup often, when I do, this is my go to lip stuff.

I’m checking these others out, but also the Clinique Pop. Now I want to use my go to’s sparingly. I did look to see if I could find pink chocolate, and it was $56 on Amazon!

Do they still have that black ice? I’m not going to be happy if they don’t!

I use Bobbi Brown.

I feel like Bobbi Brown is really drying.

I wear cheap drugstore makeup, and I use those all day lipsticks that you apply, wait a minute, then apply a moisturizer from the other side of the tube. You can reapply this moisturizer without wearing the color off for hours.

I use Nivea lip balm under and sometimes over my lipstick to keep my lips from feeling too dry. I find that it is less waxy than other brands and makes a big difference in how my lips feel.

I’ve found Bobbi Brown to be the most comfortable lipstick of all the major cosmetic companies" I’ve tried. It’s the only one that doesn’t either feel gunky or dry.

I’m assuming Bobbi Brown has more than one lipstick line? Which one are people recommending? I find that most lipsticks wear off way too quickly. I have tried a pretty wide range, both more and less expensive. Surprisingly, Cover Girl Outlast All Day Color works well. Stays on all day and you just reapply the topcoat. If I wear it more than a couple days in a row, though, it does get drying.

@thumper1 , I don’t see Black Ice in the drop down list, although it might be under a different name. One review said they showed her the equivalent to one she has and it wasn’t the same. You’ll have to just go and see.

@conmama

It’s black honey…oops. And it’s called “Almost Lipstick”.

It seems to still be there.

Lucky you!!! I know that the most popular color. I tried it once, but it’s too sheer for my complexion, but I can see why it’s popular.

Bobbi Brown may have changed formulations. The mattes from a few years ago are definitely too drying. I have one of the special edition palettes, and I will say that even though I find some of those lipsticks very drying, they do leave a good stain.

@collage1 - I got one of those Outlasts on clearance a few months ago - it’s definitely a color I have to save for Spring and winter, but I agree that it’s pretty good for once in a while.

@conmama - I have actually found youtube to be a decent source of information for makeup. There are some beauty influencers I particularly like that also struggle with dry lips. Tati (Glam life guru) is one - she would recommend Maybelline lipsticks as a non-drying drugstore brand. I’m not blown away by the color selection, but they are OK. Hot and Flashy (Angie) is another - I think she has a top lipstick video rating them for wear and dryness, etc. Frugalistablog is fun. And then there is also the Temptalia blog - it’s not Youtube, but she reviews and rates a lot of makeup with wear time, dryness, etc.
