Suggestions on colleges based on my interest

I’m interested in Film, meterology, and intercultural business.
I want to find a college withe good programs in these sections and I’m open to anything. I’ve been looking at so far: UTA, UNT, BAYLOR, UM, UF, UT, UCLA, USC, UCSD, UCB, and that’s about it.

I’m retaking my ACT, I currently have a 3.9, and I’m also considering community college for my first two years in case I can’t afford these colleges.

I’m on mobile and I have no idea where I posted this so sorry if I made a mistake.

I’m replying to all my comments but to add, I’m taking AP Environmental Systems to see if it could be a possible career path, for Film(is there a career in which I focus on weather, not a weather woman or do just the weather channel?) And lastly I’m interested in other countries to study abroad so I’m open minded.

Meteorology: Penn State

If cost is a concern, what’s your state of residence?

This is NOT a good list if you’re concerned about cost. Many of these will not be affordable because you’d be OOS and they don’t give much/any aid to OOS students.

It’s not a good idea to create a list of possibly too-expensive schools without any financial safeties…and then have to go to a CC if none are affordable. Why not include a couple of schools that WOULD be affordable as back ups???

What is your home state?

What are your test scores so far??

How much will your family pay each year?

Is UNT…Univ of North Texas?

UM…Mich?

UTA…U Texas Austin? If so, does that mean that UT is UTenn?

I’m guessing UTA=University of Texas at Arlington? It would be more affordable…

Yes UTA is that.
I’m in Texas but my family and I used to live in California 8 years ago.

My back up school is University of Texas at Arlington or TCC(community college), UM University of Miami but University of Florida might be better financial wise.
My parents are well off but idk how much they’re going to support me, I’m looking into scholarships and alternatives.

If you can get into UT-Austin, in-state tuition is close to $10K a year. In general, your in-state options will be the most affordable.

Miami will likely be too expensive, but run the Net Price Calculator(NPC) to get a better sense of the expense. See if this is something your parents are welling to pay.

UF’s OOS tuition is $28K a year. They do offer a limited number of OOS merit scholarships (tuition reduction awards) at $8K, $16K and $20K a year. With one of these awards (or without, based on your parents income), UF will be more affordable that Miami, but still pricey.

If you can raise your ACT score up to 30 or more, you could be awarded an OOS tuition waiver at FSU. Then you would be paying Florida in-state tuition ($6.5K a year).

The UC’s are $38K+ a year in OOS tuition, and have a new policy eliminating aid to OOS students. These are likely not options. However, if your parents can afford it, and are willing to pay for it, them these are all great schools.

If you’re looking at the UC’s, take a look at USC. You’re much more likely to get financial aid at USC than at one of the UC’s.

It all really comes down to what are your parents willing and able to pay. Have that (sometimes difficult) discussion with them, and keep them engaged in your search. Your parents may be more willing to pay for USC, than cheaper options like FSU.

Good Luck!

You’ll get no financial aid at the UCs - they are looking for full pay OOS students.

Thank you , I’ll look more into those schools and my options financial wise.

Meteorology is the least common of your areas of interest, so it would be a good idea to start narrowing your list from the AMS list of schools offering bachelor’s degrees in the subject.
