Suggestions to increase my chances?

<p>MIT has been my dream school for as long as i loved computers. Im a linux geek programer who loves computers. I would like to be a computer engineer. MIT is clearly the BEST school for this. </p>

<p>I am a high school sophomore who is still preparing.</p>

<p>What are my chances if my stats are :</p>

<p>gpa 3.9
top 15% rank</p>

<p>-minority: hispanic/latino</p>

<li><p>highest honors trophy from the Long Island Science congress Fair for studies in the control of Caulerpa Taxifolia. </p></li>
<li><p>1st place long island regional team First Robotics Competition (Main team programmer).</p></li>
<li><p>8 science olympiad medals from regionals and state competitions.</p></li>

    -More science olympiad medals.
    -MITES (if accepted or ill do another selective summer program).
    -MIT Splash Program.</p>

<p>MY recommendations will prob be :

  • i have one amazing teacher recomendation from my robotics/ future physics teacher.
  • have one good orchestra teacher recommendation
  • one really good counselor recommendation.</p>

<p>My essay:

  • prob on my robotics teacher because he is my idol. He inspires me to learn more, and i see myself in his position when he was my age. Former mit graduate, and has a doctorate.
    is this a good topic?</p>

<p>What are my chances of getting in? Also, what can i do to increase them?</p>

<p>at this point it’s too early for chances but i’m glad you’re thinking about your future ;)</p>

<p>MIT won’t be too hard b/c you are a URM, and seem to be headed on the right track with everything.</p>

<p>Be wary of anyone who tells you that MIT won’t be too hard if you’re a URM. I don’t actually want to get into the “does MIT consider that in Admissions” discussion again, but even if it DID, MIT is hard to get into.</p>

<p>You seem to be doing fine so far, but it’s too early for this - not too early for you to be thinking, too early for us to give you useful feedback. Come back when these predicted activities/accomplishments/grades have solidified.</p>

<p>Can you learn all those languages as well as you claim, or just some words of them ?</p>
