Suites Vs rooms

My daughter is hoping to get a bid to allow her group to select an apartment or suite in the upcomming room selection process. If she doesn’t which residence halls would be available to pick from. it is difficult to tell as most of them seem to have suites.

I know of two for certain, Panther Hall and Pennsylvania Hall. Probably also Lothrop and Tower C.

Tower C is all freshman now. The upperclassmen “dorm” is really just Lothrop. All the other ones (Panther, PA, Bruce, McCormick, Bouquet, Ruskin) are suite/apartment style where you pick through the bid process. Basically…everyone is in a suite.

Do you have to have the exact number of occupants to sign up for a suite. For example for th 4 person suites in Bruce, can 2 people sign up for one of the rooms in the suite and someone else sign up for the other room or do you have to have 4 people to sign up for a 4 person suite.

No, you don’t need an exact number of people for the lottery. As sophomores, DS and friends did not get a suite/apt via the application to Panther Central. When it was his time for the lottery, there was a suite available at PA Hall with three beds open. There was someone who had already taken one of the beds when DS logged in so he took the remaining three beds. He made a new friend :)

Thanks MTNEST, that is good news. I was under the impression that my daughter would need to find the exact number of occupants for the room she wanted.

If your daughter is looking for a 2 person room, rather than a suite, those are available in Panther and Pennsylvania. So, if your daughter and her friends are unable to obtain a suite bid, they could always be close in proximity by selecting two double rooms side by side in one of these dorms.

When it is time for your daughter to select her room, the only dorms/rooms that have openings will appear for selection. After she selects a dorm, the open spaces in that dorm will appear. It will also show if there is already someone else in one of the beds of that room/suite.
