Just wondering anyone get off from wait list yet?
For everyone wondering about the waitlist, there is almost always movement on the waitlist since people who get into SUMaC more than likely also get into other fantastic programs and may choose other options. Best of luck
The deposit deadline was May 1st for those accepted.
whoops, forgot to reply on here. i got into program i and as for how i solved all the problems, i just kept at them and didnt give up. did anyone else on here get in or someone who has gone in the past that i could bounce questions off of?
@wstcoast I went a few years ago. DM me and I can try to answer some questions. I might forget to check this account, so you could also email me at this username for gmail.
Hey @wstcoast I got in for the same too!
Also, to answer some of the questions that appear in this thread and might come up again next year (background: I attended a few years ago):
SUMaC has 40 students. Slightly weighted toward rising seniors over rising juniors, but they don’t go for any particular balance (other than they want some rising juniors who might come back to the program the following year). Roughly 60% are in program 1 and 40% are in program 2.
All parts of the application are considered, though the admission exam carries the most weight. Making that clean and concise is the best use of your time, although you should put in some effort into the written responses (they do not need to be essays, but should convey your interests).
As to what the experience is like: it’s pretty amazing. It is a great community of students, TAs and instructors with plenty of math passion and fun interactions beyond the academics. Definitely gives a taste of the college experience in a really appealing way.
Open invitation for people from next year (or this year I guess) to ask questions. You can DM me here, which I may or may not see, or you can email me at this username’s gmail.
@thedoctor2031 Hello, I am going to attend SUMaC this summer. Could you please tell me how deep each of the programs go? Does the group theory and topology begin from the basics and build up rigorously, or are do they focus more on applications of these topics?
Just wondering how is Sumac student ending up universities?
I know I’m really late, but I had a couple questions. If my AMC score isn’t amazing(over 100 but not good enough for AIME), do you think I still have an actual shot at making it?
I applied this year as well. I hope a discussion for 2020 admissions will open.
Does anyone want to make a 2020 thread? I applied this year and I’d like to see who else applied.
