Summer 2012 Santa Monica internship-housing?

<p>I found a 3 year old thread about LA area intern housing. So the situation is: a summer 2012 internship in Santa Monica from early June-late August. Not familiar with LA area at all (coming from the east). Any ideas? Neighborhood names to be aware of that are reasonable and nearby…colleges that might allow summer dorm living for a non-student. </p>

<p>The Westwood area, adjacent to UCLA and due east of Santa Monica, is a safe area with lots of young people and should have a lot of summer rentals and sublets available. There’s a bus that goes to Santa Monica from there. You can check on Google maps to see how practical it is to transit between the workplace and the apartment.</p>
