out of these which ones would be good E.C.'s for Stanford?
-job at icecream shop
-summer camp counselor
-starting up my blog
-starting my non-profit business to help the sea turtles
-Volunteering at local old folks home
-getting PADI dive certified
-taking some college courses
-volunteering at hospital or aquarium
-would going to camps look impressive (fashion camp, marine bio camp) or no?
-online internships
-side question: when students go on those expensive volunteer trips through like rustic pathways and broadreach to get college credit and service hours and earn certifications, is that impressive to colleges?
I’d go job since you get some money on side. Or else certification. Non profit would be ok, but only if you actually care about sea turtles. Otherwise, you’d be better off doing something YOU, not stanford, thinks is worthwhile.
Anything you do, as long as you do it well, is an accomplishment.
Does it have to be limited to one? Start a non-profit to help sea turtles, get PADI certified, and start a blog where you discuss conservation and ecology issues. Then you have a pretty solid group of related activities that show a genuine passion (assuming this turns you on), commitment, and distinctiveness.
