so according to this email i received, science and society students have this summer assignment about the poem book. does anybody know wat exactly is the assignment? how long it should be? can it be found online (the assignment, not the book)?

just read the book. its a poetry book by billy collins.

you’ll get a copy at orientation

youll get your assignment during your freshie seminar.

[last year, the assignment was write an essay, poem or make a collage about the book.]

is it for our intro to stony brook class or is it for WRT 101?

How many times a week is the reg. seminar? Does it have a seminar? How long is each session? Also was the assignment long and graded harshly?

Hmm…when were these e-mails sent out? I didn’t get one…but I am in the Honors College and am signed up for WRT102.

So maybe it is just for WRT101?

Izzy’s basically right, and it’s the same thing. You have to do a reaction piece – it can be anything. A poem, a story, an essay, a piece of music, a sculpture, whatever. Winners get prizes. If you didn’t get the book, then you probably didn’t go to Orientation yet, and if you went to Orientation and didn’t get it, call the Orientation office. It’s part of the Freshman Seminar (SBU 101, not the WRT class).

If you have the book and don’t know what to do with it, read it. (That, and you should have paid a little more attention at Orientation, but don’t worry about it now. Just read.) We’ll discuss it in the freshman seminar.

freshie seminar meets once a week for about 45mins. you only have 2 assignments aside from the summer thingie, both of which are easy. you have to attend 2 of your college’s “events”. the seminar is REALLY easy… youll find out everything you have to know on the first day… until then… put it out of your mind.

Is the assignment due on the first day of class because they weren’t being specific about what to do and i contacted my college, SSO, but no response. Please someone brief me in greater detail.

You’ll learn all about it in your first 101 class. Just read the book for now.
