Has anyone here been or had a child take the Biotech DNA class at Brown? My daughter is really curious about the part of the class that says. “Students with permission will do a large-scale extraction of their own DNA and use it to perform a series of analyses including tissue typing.” Just wondering if anyone has had any experience here.

Thanks in Advance!!

I went there last year, but I had friends in that class and they said it was amazing. Personally you should also try biomed techniques and botanical roots of mod. med.

Bump…anyone else??

My daughter took a class at Brown last summer. She loved Brown and the program. The class was mediocre because it was taught by a graduate student whose communication skills were shaky. Other classes, however, were taught by professors. You don’t know in advance. My daughter loved Brown summer but I’m not sure (as a parent) the quality justified the cost.

^^^deposit it is in so I’m not sure backing out at this point is wise. I guess I will be frustrated if the teacher is a grad student. We were told by another parent that the DNA class is typiclly taught by a professor because he oversees the extraction of the students DNA for tissue typing. I can’t imagine a grad student doing that. But I have been wrong many times before so I just have to hope we get lucky.

Anyone else attend this specific class??
