Summer@Brown 2016

Hello everyone, I really want to apply to one of the Summer@Brown pre- college courses .(Preferably a science one) and I just wanted to know a typical day if the class was from 3:15-6:05 , is it easy to get in? My parents are willing to pay the money for a two week course, I’m from florida so would i have to fly to RI by myself?, What is all you should bring?

Okay sorry for the plethora of questions but thank you! <3

Summer@brown is super easy to get in if you are academically motivated. Besides classes the rest of the day is free for you to use - there is no set schedule, only checking in with your RA at 11pm before bed. I personally had a 9AM class and after that was over my friends and I just hung out, watched netflix, and sometimes attended some of the college series lectures if we found it interesting. As to what to bring, its really whatever you would pack for a standard sleep-away camp, clothes, toiletries, and whatever else you might need to live there for two weeks

But I would definitely recommend attending - I made some great memories and am still in touch with all my hall mates 4 years later

Hii! I’m going to summer @brown this summer too and I’m also flying from florida! What days are you planning to go?

i’m planning to as well, i haven’t got my response yet. i have a 3.88 GPA, is that enough? i’m panicking!

your GPA is perfectly fine!! admissions for their summer program is honestly not competitive and they usually respond within 2 weeks! dont worry!

thank you!!

I went to Summer@Brown last year. I’d recommend bringing:

  • Clothing for at least 1 week
  • an outfit you can wear to a dance
  • a fan (you can rent one from Summer@Brown but theirs are both loud and ineffective)
  • shower sandals
  • shower caddy
  • binder paper and binder/folder or notebook
  • for some classes: buy the books in advance, it'll be cheaper on Amazon than at the bookstore
  • writing utensils
  • laptop
  • toiletries
  • sunscreen
  • laundry bag
  • water bottle
  • clothing hangers
  • umbrella/thin raincoat
  • bath towel
  • flat sheets
  • blanket
  • pillow/pillowcase
  • spending money

Hello everyone!! I attended the summer program last year and it was amazing. For those who are hesitating let me tell you it is totally worth it. I am even planning on going there again this year. I took a pschology in medicine course and it was really enjoyable. As for flying in alone, well that makes the whole experience even more fun. I flew all the way in from Morocco with a few friends of mine and we made the best out of this program. I hope to see some of you there and if you have any questions please let me know.
