<p>We Arrived last Tuesday afternoon in Tally to drop off s. That night the university had a torch lighting ceremony outside the football stadium to acknowledge and celebrate the track teams third consecutive national championship. The event was really nice and I had never seen the torch lit before. It was cool. The highlight for my s was when the football players came out to support the track team. My s met E.J. Manuel (one of the top ranked incoming freshman football players). That was a thrill for our s and I think at that moment he started to really feel like a Nole!
His roommate didnt arrive until Friday, so he had time to organize the dorm room (with a little help from his parents and younger brother). I made several trips over to the shopping mall area. My s had ordered his books through the bookstore and went to pick them up without any issues. Ironically, my s met a girl in the bookstore that was a camp friend with one of his best friends from the town where we live in ny. What a small world.
We found out that you need to put money on the fsu id chip for laundry and other things like printing at the union. There was a machine in glichrist that let us deposit some money on the chip. Previously I had thought that as long as his fsu id was linked to his suntrust account, he was good to go. Not the case. The chip on the card used for laundry is a separate fee.
The move in went well. The University does a good job, allows parking in all the spaces outside the dorm while moving in. there were students all over giving away bottles of water and answering any questions you may have had.
Food stops
P2n. we ate breakfast at the Lunchbox. I remembered you had recommended this some time ago and we passed it by one morning and went in. what a great place for breakfast. We ate pizza at the mellow mushroom and a place called 3 guys from new York. Both were good. We also ate a few nicer restaurants downtown and thought the food was good. We found a sushi place downtown (I forgot the name) which is also very good and seemed busy.
Everyone we met from parents to new students to current students all were so nice and happy with fsu. Tally really seems like a nice community.
Regarding storage between summer c and the fall, I found the best solution while walking around the union. UPS had a table setup with a service specifically designed for this need. Boiled down, they offer three different size boxes ( my son could most likely fit all his stuff in two large boxes). They then have customized boxes fro tvs and other items. Is all you have to do is give them a call at (850.575.4488) or go to their web site ([The</a> UPS Store #4263 - Tallahassee, Florida](<a href=“http://www.tallahasseeupsstore.com/summerStorage.html]The”>http://www.tallahasseeupsstore.com/summerStorage.html)) . tell them how many boxes you need. They will deliver the boxes to your childs dorm along with tape and labels. Then they come back and pickup your boxes and redeliver them to your new dorm when you come back in august. This seems like the way to go for us.
Our s seemed so happy and thats all a parent can ask for when dropping off. Hope everyone elses move in went as well as ours did.</p>
<p>Let us know how your son liked his first day of classes today.</p>
<p>Wow - great report!</p>
