Summer Camp for Art and Drawing?

I cannot find anything for my rising sophomore. We don’t want musical theatre or fully creative writing, but if we could find something that had a great intensive art program and writing…it would be perfect. Any ideas? Preferably in the midwest or southeast.

Try mysummeradvisor.com and search under academic programs for art. You can choose a specific region. Look at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago - a top-notch art school. Savannah College of Art and Design and Ringling College in Florida are also excellent. Art school programs are less likely to offer writing, so also look at summer programs at liberal arts colleges and universities.

Interlochen has a visual arts camp (if you can afford it!):

It is a pretty special place if you can pay the bill. Lovely setting, awash in all kinds of art. I went to a faculty small ensemble concert a few years ago when vacationing there, and it was possibly the most amazing musical performance I have ever been to.

My daughter and her friends love Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. It’s not as expensive as Interlochen (doesn’t have as big a name either). Not sure if they have writing.

Blue Lake has art, but I don’t think they have writing. I went to Blue Lake for a few summers for music back in the day.

thanks guys for the suggestions. We will start looking at those if there are still openings. This is kind of a last minute idea.!

I just looked up Blue Lake. They don’t have Creative Writing as a Major, but they do have it as a Minor.
