summer classes and GPA

When colleges calculate GPA, do they generally include classes taken during the summer? Like if I do harvard ssp, will colleges count that? I know the UCs won’t, but I wonder if taking classes help GPA-wise.

Most do. My friend took calculus at a community college to get his gpa to a 4.0 and it counts on his transcripts

Harvard SSP, like Brown/summer and Columbia and Princeton are Pay to Play programs, cash cows run like a business. They are very good, but Not taught by the universities professors nor taught at the universities’ level.

Per Columbia Admission director not more then two weeks ago, selective colleges DO NOT value a single course taken in summer the same as they value the grade you got on the same course taken while simultaneously taking 4 other classes, sports, and ECs. “Harvard SSP does not help get you into Harvard.” Columbia or Brown/summer do not give you a leg up on getting into Columbia or Brown.

The exception to the “does not count” statement is taking a math or language course during the summer to move you into a higher level during the school year. School value the level of classes that you take during the year within the context of the classes offered. Example: your school offers Calc Regular, AB, BC and Differential. You are on track for regular only. Taking regular during summer to boost you into BC during the school year. Then it makes sense.

All college take your GPA and transcript apart and reconfigure it in their own way. Every school will count it in a different way.

Taking school classes during summer, plus taking school classes during the school year makes you look really boring. Like you did not have the creativity to come up with something better. BORING. Colleges want a hook. They don’t want boring.
