Anyone know if it it “legal” to take a summer course at a local cc just to refresh the material but not report or transfer the credit back to my college? It been a couple of years since I took the HS calculus and I did Ok but forgot most of it, so I wanted to refresh and get a good base before taking Cal I in the fall.

You could ask the professor to just audit the class at the CC.

I think the cc will only report the scores to the college if you request them to.

If you’re getting graded to it, then no, its not. You might be able audit it. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, I’m awful at math and because I took the course in HS and everything wasn’t brand new, I got an A in college. Once you see it again it’ll be enough of a refresher.

Thanks for all your suggestion. I am not sure if I want to spend the $$ yet, but I guess audit is an option.

math classes are typically large and you could probably get away with just attending class without even enrolling and just skipping all the tests/quizzes. any classes you are legitimately enrolled in will become part of your permanent academic record, and you typically can’t receive duplicate credit for courses even if they’re at different universities
