Summer Classes

Hey everyone. I recently committed to the University of Delaware, and I am an exercise science major with the intent to become either attend PT school or Med school. Recently, people have talked to me about taking summer classes at my local community college to 1) get ahead in my studies and 2) cut down on costs. I know that most schools (if not all) do accept transfer credits from community colleges (yes Delaware does), but they do not work that into the calculation of the GPA. When applying to graduate programs, whether it be PT or med school, they take a close look at your science GPA. My question is, how do graduate programs view transfer credits from community colleges, and is it in my best interest to enroll in any?

They won’t care if you took calculus at a community college. Don’t take Galois Theory at a CC even if you somehow found a CC that offers such a class (or whatever a similarly advanced class would be in exercise science).

UD is pretty cheap if you’re in-state though (or if you can be after your first year).

I’m out of state and I got some money, so its about 30,000 a year for me. What about entry level science classes such as Chem 1, Phys 1, Bio 1…?

Not in those fields but I doubt it matters much. Read the syllabi and compare them to the courses at UD to make sure the CC courses aren’t too “soft.”
