Summer college interview

My son is interviewing in a few weeks at a college he is very interested in but is a long shot for financial reasons.
Since he has not worked on any college applications yet, we were wondering if he will need to bring anything with him along the lines of a college “resume” or if he needs to have his stats etc on paper to hand to them?

How formal are these interviews normally? Should he wear a suit and tie?

This is his first college interview so unfamiliar with the process.

bump…

A one page CV would be nice. My son went to about a dozen on campus interviews and a few with local alumni.

Dress varies widely from boys in cargo pants to girls in short shorts.

I don’t think a tie is necessary but khakis, loafers and a blazer is fine.

They vary in formality quite a bit and some speak to the parents with the applicant at the end. My son’s feeling is that the smaller schools are trying to figure out of you are serious or not.

I wouldn’t go suit and tie. Dressy while slightly casual, so what @bestparents2019 said. I would try to prep him with questions and do a few mock interviews before the real thing.

I wore shorts and sandals but sometimes the parents are all decked out too. Quite funny actually.

D did a couple of summer interviews. She took it as interviewing the school as much as the school interviewing her. She had questions for the school to determine if she wanted to apply. She took copies of her resume (her school required her to create one her junior year). She handed one copy to the interviewer but she kept a copy to jog her memory during the talk. I think we battled over interview attire. No shorts but no dress either.

Thanks all. Any idea of the format for the resume or CV?
