Hey guys, I recently found out I was admitted to UT Austin and I was wondering something. I have also gotten into the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in mathematics. Whereas at UT Austin I got into the Computer Science department which is my first choice. Do you guys have any idea why this might have occurred?
Also, I just found out yesterday and since I am deciding between the two I would like to visit but now I must give them my decision by next Thursday the 18th. Do you guys know who I should contact in order to get that date pushed back a bit so I can visit both campuses?
I hope you guys will hear back soon and you guys are having a good Friday.
Thank you
Edit: Oh I almost forgot, I have contacted some people not in admissions and they told me to contact admissions. Currently I am trying to call admissions.
Update: I just got off the phone with admissions and they said I needed to send a fax detailing my situation and request to 512-475-7478 in case anyone else has a similar predicament
@Nayplaya14 I honestly think it’s 50/50. When I called a couple of days ago they said we should hear by the 15th, and that if it doesn’t happen by today, it should happen Monday, maybe Tuesday. They just told me to keep checking.
For those who are wondering, I just registered for orientation and it looks like the only spot open (for COLA at least?) is late August (15-17 I believe). Works out for me because it’s the only one I could attend.
@gigs94 Haha uhh… I don’t know? I payed my enrollment deposit and then I clicked on the register button for orientation and it directed me to another page that had a drop down menu of 3 sessions, and the first two (June and July I presume) were grayed out and it said “Closed” next to it. The last option was for the August session.
EDIT: I am an idiot! It was actually the July session. Whoops, gonna need to change that. This is what I get for not reading things clearly.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like almost everyone who has been accepted is Liberal Arts or Engineering. Everyone else is mostly just sitting here waiting.
Hey guys! I have been stalking this thread for a while, around the time I finally submitted all of my documents for application. I have decided now to join the discussion. I applied for the College of Education (Special Ed) with my second choice being Social Work. I have a rather low gpa of 3.45, which I knew was low, and feel I compensated for in other areas, atleast enough to give me a chance. I wrote two very strong essays, had a very strong resume with around 200 hours of volunteer work and a focus on special education experience, two very strong letters of rec. (one from a ut grad who was on the board of education for 20+ years, and my DI coach all throughout highschool), as well as having relatively high ACT/SAT scores. Anyways just confused to how long it’ll be before I hear back, I already have a place in Austin and I know I’ll be living there next year no matter what but this wait is killing me! Also congratulations to everyone who has already heard back with good news (: !
