Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@JMag95 Austin is very expensive. Even though I only spent my childhood there, my parents frequently tell me it was a pain. I online live 3 hours down the road in Houston and its stupid how more expensive Austin is.

@Kyotoraz Yeah. I lived in Houston for 5 years, but I think Houston is considered crazy cheap. I have a friend at UT that spends about $1k a month for rent, bills, and food and he thinks it’s pretty cheap, but it’s almost double what I’m doing now haha. What’s your price range, if you don’t mind me asking? Mine is about max $800 for rent

If anyone is looking for a roommate… lmk

@Jmag95 I also have a maximum of $800. I have a roommate ready that is a CAP student but we will probably need 2 more people. If your interested just message me I’m sure we can work things out. If we have 4 people rent can be as low as 500-600.

@gigs94 we are on the same page. Mine is there month and I applied to lovely Moody as well. Hang in there! We will be fine!

Transcript sent immediately after released today and now the waiting game begins! Curious to see how many COLA transfers they accept.

@JMag95 @kyotoraz Keep me in mind buds D:

I know it depends on the college but it kinda sucks that people with less that 30 hrs are getting accepted before people who have 30+. Shouldn’t they be focusing on the 30+ folks first? I guess it’s only been COLA but there are still a lot of 30+ COLA hopefuls that haven’t heard back yet. I’m just being bitter at this point, haha.

Burn down the school?

ask @decorus , would he want to do this :))
We’ll get our results soon, this wait is killing though…

I’m looking at Dobie. I ideally wanted something quiet but I won’t have a car my first year so I needed something close to campus/my main building. My roommate just dumped me because she doesn’t want to live on The Drag so I’m out of luck. Also, whoever runs the transfer and class of '18 groups on Facebook need to accept me so I can find a non-freshman roommate.

before i got in, i just started looking for houses and gathered roommates off the UT housing fb group. you’ll meet alot of cool people on there (potential roommates). i also had to wait a while because i didnt know what i could afford because my FinAid was taking too long. So your best bet is to join the fb group and find people who have places and are looking for roommates.

i got a house in west campus. 600 a month per person

hope housing is still available

I haven’t been accepted yet, but I’m trying to sift through some potential housing options. Does anyone know of any studio, efficiency or one bedroom apartments around or within 10 miles or so from campus? Some bills included is preferred, looking at around $700ish per month. Probably a long shot, but figured I’d ask around.

“Your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 30 semester hours of transfer coursework.
We will make your admission decision after we receive your final, official transcript showing the remainder of your required coursework.”

Below it says that my transcript has been received.

This is killing me. Has this happened to anybody else?

@xlolpx I’m having the same issue. I’m hoping it will clear out on tuesday or something since memorial day is monday so they probably won’t be working then. I sent my transcript out on the 15th

@xlolpx @tiffylu This happened to me last Thursday. My application status changed to complete/on time the following Tuesday. No worries

Apparently the transfer orientation is 2 days long. At least the school will provide housing for the overnight stay. Wonder what will happen if there’s no more room.

There is a nice Motel 8 about four miles from campus for about $50 a night. I got the on-campus housing for orientation but when I visit Austin I stay at that motel.

Also I got my acceptance letter. 1 page, small envelope. No banner. I was so looking forward for the GONE TO TEXAS! Banner. Bummer. I paid the same application fee as the freshman, I want a banner :frowning:

Hey guys, prospective transfer student here for 2016, was wondering if it is possible for me to transfer to UT Austin from California. I know the OOS transfer rate is embarrassingly low, but I think I have a good shot considering I have high SAT I & II/ACT scores, will most likely get a perfect GPA from the cc I will be attending, and could get a rec from a prominent/influential person here. This question may be really stupid but I can’t seem to find any info regarding transferrable units as we call it here in California (instead of hours). Any info on how transfers from out of state including information regarding transferrable ‘credit’ would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@Geekytheatregeek dont complain lol, some of us here are dying for a responseee!! Congratulations though!! What was your major??
