Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

This wait is slowly chewing me away. I really hope I find out if I got in by the end of the week!

just saw that my application requested a transcript that was updated from the beginning of Fall 2014. It got sent today which was good but electronically. Is this fine? It had an option to upload through the doc system.

Yes. I completed Accounting 2 and Cal 2 this past semester (A, A) which raised my GPA above. I will say that too tomorrow, but I don’t know if that helps. Does appeal help applicants get accepted?
@Toastyful I applied at the end of February

@flashdance34 From what I’ve heard, Jester can be the epitome of the college dorm experience. From there I heard it can be very quiet to very loud depending on the location. For me personally, I am going to Jester since I want to experience the dorm life at least once, and I have a friend I trust very much to room with me. I am certain Jester is mostly what you make of it. I’m hoping to be active and participate in many activities so I’m planning to turn it into a good experience. If you’re reserve and quiet, I’m not entirely too sure if Jester may be for you. If it does become too bad, I figure that since I’m an adult, I can figure out how to solve my problems or try to get around them.

@donnatienlu Thanks for the info. I applied near the deadline so it may be a few days before I hear back.

Appeals may help you get accepted but I’m not sure by how much. It doesn’t hurt to try so put 100% effort into it. It’s another shot to get into UT so try your best.

@Toastyful Do you know if there are groups that exist where you can find roommates? Fb groups for example? Don’t want to be stuck with someone totally random. And you’re saying it’s basically chance, if you get a loud floor or a quiet one, right?

@flashdance34 Pretty sure it is just chance which floor you get.

The only roommate finder facebook page I’m aware is https://www.facebook.com/groups/UTSubletRoommateFinder/.
But it’s for mostly apartment leases and sublease I think. If anyone else know different links, please post them.

Hoping someone can answer my question. I was accepted into COLA international relations a couple of weeks ago. What I wanted to know is there a process to partake in their Pre-Med program or is it just basically following the course list. UT says you can major in anything and still be Pre-Med, but hat I don’t know is how to “become one”.

@mrmmrm Pre-med just means that you wish to go to med school and therefore are taking pre reqs to prepare you for the MCAT. It’s basically a label since at UT there isn’t a “Pre-med major”.

Hello guys. I got reject today, and they told me because I do not fulfill business school requirement. I am going to be a junior, and I spent 3 semesters in Marquette University, and spring 2015 in University of Illinois. I took Micro Macro Econ and Calculus I at Marquette University and took my Calculus II at University of Illinois. I called them and the head of International education told me that my Marquette University transcript expired, so they reject me. After my explanation, he let me send my Marquette University transcript again. However, when I ask him where I can turn into my University of Illinois transcript which includes my Calculus II requirement. He told me they do not consider my Spring 2015 transcript as admission decision. This means I do not fulfill the requirement even though I finished it before June 1st. At first, they told me I can turn in my updated transcript before June 1st, and then they said I am an international student, I have to finished all my requirement before deadline which is March 1st. They told me this is the difference between US citizen and International students. Anyone can help me what should I do? Please give me some advise. I saw the website of international admission states that “Updated transcripts for courses you’re enrolled in at the time of the deadline should be submitted as soon as possible after you complete the work.”

Very appreciate. Really want to be a Longhorn. I don’t want to get reject just because of this.

@slzSLZ OMG is it the same thing I have to go through with. I guess this is the reason why I got rejected too. If that is the case I’m disappointed. I’m an international too. The instruction isn’t very clear then. I should have repriorotize or take it sooner for my cal 2 class. They shouldn’t inform us through a rejection letter and waste another year to be accepted.

Admitted !!! International student! Math major !

Help please !!! I am a current math major student. I am wondering whether I can register CS courses, is there any restriction for non-cs major like math??? And how hard is it for me to switch my major to CS ?

i am doing the same thing but with psychology. Basically just take all the necessary science classes.

@Mohyeen I heard CS is almost impossible to get in as internal transfer .

@slzSLZ How can your transcript be expired? That’s what I’m confused on. Making me worried since I am an international student as well and finished all my indicator classes in Spring.

@slzSLZ I would definitely appeal if I was you especially because they have a spring transcript that they didn’t consider for your admission and that can be the basis of your appeal. I’ve heard it is a very frustrating process but I’ve also met a few people that have gotten accepted after their appeals. As long as you put your heart into it and show them why you would be a great contribution to the university then I don’t see why they wouldn’t take the time to look at your appeal.

I think it is very hard to internal transfer to CS. I think there are a few classes available for CS but I think those are mostly reserved for current CS students.

@Toastyful So sad about that. Perhaps I have to go to UNC or UW-Madison

@qdchen7878 I was speaking to a current CS friend about that two days ago and he said that internal CS transfers basically stopped a few years ago due to the university having to basically require internal transfers (a simple sign of a sheet from the student) and so many people flooding it for double majors and such. The result of this was no freshman applicants being able to get their classes or their CS major. Apparently they changed the internal transfer process and now it’s nearly impossible to IT into CS!
