I just got accepted!!! So excited! BA Psych (1st choice)
I graduated from high school early in December since I had 24 hours of dual credit with a 4.0. I had really good grades and extracurriculars in HS (competitive gymnast, Varsity cheer and track, lots of clubs and volunteer hours) but was not top 7% because my school is so competitive. I knew I would have a better chance as a transfer so I finished my 30 hours this semester at ACC. My final transcript was received and changed to complete yesterday and I never even saw it go into review. It went straight to admitted! I can’t believe how fast it was! Good luck to everyone!!! My fingers are crossed - hope you hear back soon!
@JD1327 I don’t think thats true! I heard back from CNS a couple of days ago (I’m CAP) and I already know of 4 people rejected from CNS/Engineering (so they got acceptances to COLA/UGS). I think it just depends on what school you apply to and your stats. Schools outside of COLA and UGS just see cap and non-cap transfer students as the same
Congrats to everyone getting accepted! One question I have: are y’all checking multiple times a day? Like did you check this afternoon and there was nothing there and then checked later at night and you saw your acceptance? Interested to see what time they post these.
@aksamq8 This is just a guess because I haven’t gotten my decision yet, but I think that the times vary because of processing time. Like they may make the actual decision at 1:00pm, but it might not appear on MyStatus until like 9:30 pm for whatever reason. I remember someone saying they checked at 10:00pm and the next day they checked in the morning and their decision was posted. I don’t know why it would take time to process but it’s just a guess.
@Toastyful I feel you. Also, I’ve told a lot of people about applying to UT and it’s going to be really uncomfortable to tell them that I got rejected.
some CAP people got accepted already also , my roommate next year for austin whose also CAP like me got accepted today for bio , he had a 3.93 so if your stats are high enough you get accepted earlier , however I’m engineering and I’ve kind of accepted the fact that I’m probably not going to get in … so just waiting for the UGS acceptance … I’ve succumbed to the fact that if you don’t have a 4.0 you aren’t getting into engineering so yea lol
@MyLonghorn Your GPA is a 3.94? I tend to think that the “only 4.0’s get admitted” argument is fear-mongering and that a strong application even in the 3.8 range has to be a better choice than a weak application with a 4.0. However, ECE last semester admitted only some 40 odd transfers, a pretty grimm prospect. You seem like a smart fella and will probably thrive wherever you get admitted. I am with you though in assuming I won’t get in to Engineering, which is also my solution to your problem @Toastyful , just keep em expectations in check!
@13rker I’ll try to keep em lower for the next few days. I want the A-Okay to start preparing for the move to Austin.
@Toastyful yeah, having to think about a big move on top of waiting for a decision would add a new level of complexity to the anxiety for sure! well hang in there, for better or worse it’ll be over soon!!
@hanzban What was your 1st choice major?
That is awesome gymgirl22. I was wondering if anyone has ever done that. I think that’s great. Good for you. You will be entering with the freshman class on time just like everyone else but you will essentially be a year ahead of most students. If you had not graduated high school until may but still had the 30 hours could you have still applied as a transfer or would you have to apply as a high school student?
@13rker i completely agree with you that a 3.8 application with especially better essays and rec. letters and extracurriculars is better than a 4.0 with utmost crappy essays and no rec letters and decent extracurriculars. However , i like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best … so I’m preparing to get rejected even though i hope to get in … if I’m like only hoping to get in and get rejected and get into UGS then ill be pretty freaking sad , but if i accept that I’m a get rejected and do get rejected its not going to be so bad.
and heres my application :
GPA : 3.968/4.0
Hours : 53 , 22 AP credit and 31 at UTSA
A’s in all my engineering requirements and all my classes besides an A- in writing composition 2
2 rec letters
pretty decent essays.
15 extracurriculars : clubs , camps , and etc.(12 in high school , 3 in college)
@MyLonghorn nice dood! yup, better to be surprised than disappointed. sounds like you have an exceedingly solid application. Good luck!
Well, I’m currently look at the thread from last year for Fall 2014 and it seems like deja vu looking back on this thread. Which is pretty good I would say.
Is it alright if someone chanced me? I don’t think anyone had done so yet.
1st. Undeclared Business/McCombs. 2nd Economics/Liberal Arts
International
4.0 GPA
27 AP credits
15 Hours Fall 2014
16 Hours Spring 2015

Good essays.
No letters of rec.
Few extracurricular activities.
Was finished with all my indicator courses during the Spring Semester.
Thanks @kcsprop1! I actually did ask about applying as a transfer if I was still enrolled in high school. I was told I had to be graduated from high school by the March 1 deadline (even if I had enough hours) in order to apply for fall admissions. My whole family went to UT and I’ve always wanted to go there. I decided I would rather give up spring of my senior year than miss my “freshman year” experience at UT by starting somewhere else and transferring. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get in in a non traditional way! I’m happy to have almost a year and a half of credits finished when I first start, so I can take one less class in the fall and focus on doing well!
@Toastyful , McCombs is highly competitive for International, but I think you are good for COLA definitely. I think they must be considering you for McCombs which is why probably the delay. Don’t worry, you should be in.
@MyUTAustin Yea, realistically I probably won’t get into McCombs, but I know for a fact that I should get into liberal arts. I’ve been waiting over a year and for this moment to come.
@Gymgirl22 That’s good to know. My son is also planning to transfer. Will complete his 30 hours this summer and will apply for spring. Hopefully he can keep his 4.0 through the summer. He will go to ACC this fall and live in Calloway house so hopefully he gets in this spring. His sister will be a senior at UT this fall. He applied as a high school student and got CAP. I have a younger kid and I will try to get her to do what you did. Thanks for the info. Now we know its possible!
@Toastyful You have a great chance to get into Mccombs. But again we know how competitive it is so just hold on. You will without a doubt get into COLA so I’ll definitely see you in Austin!
Hello!! I’m waiting for an answer back from UT, I’m hoping to transfer from UT Arlington. Majoring in biology, and hoping to get into the college of natural sciences! I would really appreciate if I could get a feel of what my chances are! Here are my stats:
First choice: biology-cns
2nd choice: cns undeclared
3.5 gpa 2014 fall semester @ut arlington: 13 hours
4.0 gpa 2015 spring semester @ ut arlington: 17 hours
Cumulative gpa—3.8 with 30 hours

A few extracurriculars in high school and about 90 hours of volunteer/community service in total.
Pretty solid essays.
