<p>Anyone here that received SUMMER financial aid ( NYSTAP, pell grant, Staff. ) can u please explain the procedure that u had to follow. My school, Fordham U, only gives part-stafford loans but I would like to know how one can apply directly to these grant-giving agencies to receive these awards.</p>
<p>the type of grants you are referring to (PELL & NYSTAP) are only administered through the college – applications cannot be made directly to the organization by the student.</p>
<p>Stafford (I assume that is what you meant by Staff.) Loans are not grants – they are loans and, depending on your need level, are either subsidized, unsubsidized or a combination of the two.</p>
<p>If you are looking at attending college in the summer time, you usually have only two choices – work-study and/or stafford loans. Also, you need to take into account any money that the college expects you to earn during the summer and contribute to the next year’s college costs. Finally – most colleges require full-time attendance in order to provide the work/study and/or stafford loans. For most schools, that is 6 hours.</p>
<p>Are you currently a college student looking to take summer classes or a high school student looking for a head start? Talking to the FA advisor at your college is your best bet – there may be some local scholarships for summer tuition.</p>
