summer (high school) foreign exchange programs

We are looking for a summer foreign exchange program for D who is a high school junior. Any suggestions?

There is a whole section in College Confidential on summer programs (go to the main page and scroll down), you might want to look there. My D went on a YFU (Youth For Understanding) program to Finland for a summer after her junior year (got a scholarship) and had a great experience.

For any program, try to find people whose kids actually went to chat with; the program should be willing to give you some references in your community if they are a large program, and ask around. Online discussions are also helpful. We have some friends who just signed their kid up for a P2P (People to People) program, and now are having second thoughts due to the very high cost. vs what they get, and also reading many complaints on the web (they didn’t search until after they signed up).

My daughter had a good experience with AFS.

My daughter had a great experience with Oxbridge in Paris. They have programs in the UK, France and Spain as I recall. Expensive but well done.
