I know there have been area specific threads on summer housing but I could not find a general thread.
Yeah that she finally has something. (internship is required to graduate) Unfortunately the location is not where she has family to live with. She will need to find and pay for housing. Subletting something in the university area doesn’t make any sense since her job is a 45 minute drive from the university area each direction. Plus it is a driving city with poor public transportation options and lots of traffic. It is also not in an area that we know anyone who can go look. She will have a car. To add to the mix she has a large dog.
Looking for general things to look for. Someone suggested checking the addresses out with the police department. Safety is a big concern for us.
She is being paid. Are most students able to cover their living expenses? We can afford to help.

mom60, this is one of the situations where a large dog (or any kind of dog) will complicate things by three to five orders of magnitude. The dog needs to stay with its extended family. My D worked for two summers, and luckily for her, college housing and fraternity housing worked out greatly. We paid for her housing the first year, but last year and this year her internship earnings did/will pay for her room.

If you can post the name of the city/area, you might get some specific suggestions. Good luck, and congrats to your D.

City is Orlando.
Due to logistics the dog needs to go with her. If the internship was in the western half of the US we would be able to get the dog. But she is in the midwest, we are in Ca and the internship in Fl. What we would save on finding a rental without the dog we would eat up in getting the dog to us and back to her in Sept.
She has found a couple of possible places that will take the dog but we would have to kick in some money.
