<p>my D at UChicago is working on a resume for summer paid or unpaid internships. Is there anyone out there that knows of a summer one in law? She working with CAPS but I am looking for experienced students or ideas.</p>
<p>I read that the CAPS program first years students applying doubled this year. This will explain why they have been so busy.</p>
<p>Did anyone out there do a summer internship with or without CAPS help after their first year? If so, what kind and how did you like it?</p>
<p>Yes. I did an internship through the math department last summer. (REU - [VIGRE</a> REU 2011](<a href=“http://www.math.uchicago.edu/~may/VIGRE/VIGREREU2011.html]VIGRE”>http://www.math.uchicago.edu/~may/VIGRE/VIGREREU2011.html) ) A lot of my friends did lab jobs as well. A lot of jobs you will get after your first year are probably not the most exciting thing you will do in your life, but they are fun and rewarding. Most I have heard of people getting are for math/science people…Other opportunities start opening up for summer after 2nd yr.</p>
<p>I helped my S get an internship by networking with people I know. It is very hard to get 1st and 2nd year internships as most companies set them aside for 3rd/4th years. Networking is the way to go. We found CAPS not so helpful during years 1&2.</p>
