Summer Internships/Jobs

I’ll be attending USC next year and would like to get a head-start on the summer after my freshman year.

I would like to, if possible, to establish residency in California (I’m from Kentucky) after my freshman or sophomore year, so anyone who knows how that works, is this do-able, and what are the requirements/what do I have to do to get residency/independence from my parents?

Also, as a Viterbi student, internships are a big part of my education I’d say, so are internships at USC good? Do they pay well? Also, I need something to do during the summer, probably get a job or take a paid internship, and will probably have to pay for an apartment as well, so is this do-able as well?

Also, for work-study, what does my resum

Just a quick question. Is these a reason you’re trying to establish residency in CA? USC is a private university, so being a CA resident will not give you a discount if that’s what you were thinking. Likewise, if you’re thinking of transferring to a UC, their guidelines to being considered a CA resident are very strict since a lot of people want to get into UCLA and Berkeley and pay lower fees. But in terms of how to actually do this, I have no clue, sorry.

more for independence and grad school for admission to UCB if I decide to apply, independence means that I don’t rely on my parents’ income for financial aid.
