How do they expect us to have jobs when most jobs require you to be of a certain age? What do they mean by “summer jobs,” and do you know where I could find any?

Most age requirements for jobs are only 16, aren’t they? Unless you’ve skipped a bunch of grades, by the time you get partway through high school, you should be old enough to have a job. If not, check your state’s laws for certain special age requirements. For example, in Wisconsin, you only have to be 14 to work if the work is considered “farm” work, but to work at a McDonald’s you would have to be 16. I don’t know if this really answered your question? I couldn’t find anything about “summer jobs” on Yale’s supplement.

I started working at a fast-food restaurant when I was 15. Moved up to a host at a sit-down restaurant at 16, and now I’m a waiter at 17.

Get it together.

Um, they don’t “expect” you to have a summer job. They just want to know if you have.
Also, I worked in an office when I was 15. There is work to be found if you’re willing to, you know, look for it. [Depending on your age and state, you may need to get special papers.]
