Summer plans advice - MIT LL or two famous profs at Rice

Hey everyone, I’m applying to EE grad school the following year and I don’t know what I should do. I’ve started working under another professor at Rice (as of a month ago) and he offered me to stay and work during the summer, but then I also was given a position at MIT’s Lincoln Labs. What would look better for graduate school? Working under one professor directly (he’s a rather well known and up and coming person who was awarded one of the top 30 papers in the past 10 years) and one indirectly (another professor in signal processing who’s very famous… TED talks for instance) , or to go to Lincoln Labs.

Is working at MIT Lincoln Labs that much more prestigious than working under two very well known professors, and will if factor heavily into my graduate school applications everywhere heavily or just MIT?

I would work for the professor and get the recommendation letter from him. MIT lab won’t look as good.

Famous prof > lab

I agree, I would stick with the famous professor. It sounds like they will have a chance to get to know you more personally and will be able to give you a better recomendation. If you really aren’t sure, make a pro/con list, then reconsider your options. Congrats on the offers!

Thanks for the advice. I was not sure about the difference in recognition, but was still leaning on staying with the professors because I actually needed to stay in Houston for family reasons. This happens to work out perfectly for me!
