Summer Pre-College: Worthy?

I am deciding whether or not to attend a college in CA to take a Journalism course.

Will it help my college application?

Do you plan on majoring in Journalism? If so, yes.
Which college btw?

I am actually going to major in Psych but I am one of the most involved journalism students at my school.

possibly stanford or a UC

hmmm… same question here as well.
I am attending the Georgetown hoya summer Pre-college program from june1~july5th…
The course i am planning to take is International relations…
I am planning on majoring in political science and or journalism…
another possible choice of course is psychology( if i do take this, I won’t be taking ap psych next year)… this is because i took freud and psychology as an elective this year… And having some backround in psychology, i want to dwelve in deeper…

another Q… ap’s and 3 credit college courses are different right?
and do college course grades apply to ur gpa calculations as well?
and all in all as cchscali said, do these help?( aside from wanting to do these)

Why would you take a course that you don’t intend to major in?
I understand you want to boost your application but I don’t understand your reasoning.

It probably won’t be a significant boost to your application, aside from showing you did something productive with you summer and possibly pursued a passion. (I.e. it’s not going to increase your chances at Stanford, if you take the course at Stanford)

My son attended UCSD Accademic Connection pre college program, got an A- in the course but didnt get accepted to UCSD.He got in to UCI, UCD and UCSD as well as Cal Poly and SDSU and Long Beach. Don’t really know if the summer program helped him or not since he didnt get in to UCSD. Fortunately he had decided that UCSD was not one of his top choices so he wasnt crushed by the rejection-just kinda surprised.

Oh yeah-the nice thing about the precollege course was his high school accepted the A- and credits (15 hs credits) and it was a great gpa booster!
