Summer preparation for placement

I’ll be attending CAS this fall, and I’m wondering whether it is worth it to study and place out of certain classes…

1) I completed BC calc the first quarter of this school year, but I was reluctant to take the AP exam because I haven’t studied Calc in half a year, while my friends in lower math levels took the BC because they are still currently taking the class. Should I study over the summer to place out of the intro course? Is it really that bad? The thing is, I was in an advanced math course here at my school (I go to a prestigious boarding school in New England), and I think it would be cheating to start at intro.

2) Is it true that the Chem AP doesn’t mean much? I’m going to be taking the test tomorrow, and i’d like to know for the sake of my sanity.

Or should I just take the intro classes? My parents are planning on making my summer hell with placement exam studying, and I want to know if it’s worth it, if not for next year, but for the next four (ie: grad requirements)
