Summer program being detrimental?

Hey guys whats up!
i am very interested in the fields of finance, economics, and business.
I thought i had an internship at a top bank in NYC but i was informed that the program was canceled! I am left dead in the water and cant find any more internships at other banks because the deadline is over. I got an internship/semi-job at a campaign office for John McCain(Yes i am a republican)

I was wondering would this summer “job” be detrimental in any way to me. It seems like it is a stretch to go from Finance to Politics. Should i try and find something else in Finance? Don 't get me wrong i love politics, i just love finance and business even more!

do adcoms dislike republicans, I heard this somewhere…

must…resist…bashing…republicans…

Experience is experience. I can’t see how it will hurt you.

a college adcom would a ■■■■■■ if he/she discriminated based on your political leanings. In fact it would prolly help cos colleges are full of liberals and conservative voices (in most) colleges are harder to come by. Plus what u are doing is something u belive in and would like and something that you believe will help the country. Do it.

honestly, it’d probably really help you. think about it, working in a campaign office is generally a once in a lifetime experience, it requires a lot of hard work, and it shows you have great civic responsibility, something that is really appreciated, regardless of political orientation. an adcom isn’t going to look down on you if he/she is an obama supporter, they’re probably going to be impressed by your decision to work for him.

it’s not a stretch at all. and more importantly, you’re not even a senior in high school really yet, an adcom doesn’t expect you to know 100% what you want to do with your life and to be actively following that path now. that’s what college is for. getting really incredible experiences in unrelated and different fields is really a mature and ideal attribute.

Working for a Republican campaign would be a diversity factor at a lot of colleges.

Life is more than getting into college. If you want to work for John McCain, work for John McCain. If nothing else, it shows that you are civically minded, that you like McCain’s economic positions, that you are willing to work for what you believe in. With so many apathetic kids, and so many non-voters, that can’t be bad.

Besides, do you really want to go to any college that would hold it against you for being a Republican?
