For anyone going away for a month or longer-
what are you bringing?

I don’t know, but my guitar is a must. I have no idea how I’ll manage to carry it inside the plane, though XD

Bring everything you can’t live without … or it’ll suck. Like, your iPod, phone (you’d be amazed at how many people forget :P), etc.

I packed one suitcase with about 1-2 weeks of outfits knowing that I could wash them. I took an empty carry on as well, so that I could buy clothes at my destination. For towels, bedding, fan, etc I made connections with someone local to supply those to me while I am in town. I also brought a few things I want to read.

1-2 weeks of cloth is good. Depending on your program/situation bring at least one nice thing to wear. I’ve also realized that a battery powered alarm clock is really useful- much more than I have ever expected. A water bottle is also useful but you can probably get one when you arrive where ever you are going. A deck of cards or a frisbee can also be fun to keep you entertained and be something to do to socialize and meet others when you first arrive.

When bringing your phone and iPod and stuff, don’t forget your chargers! That is almost bad as forgetting to bring your phone in the first place, LOL.

And one thing people forget a lot is nail clippers…I know it sounds really random but seriously, if you’re gonna spend a month away from home, it really sucks to have nails that catch on your clothes every three seconds. Then again, they don’t really cost a lot, but that depends on where you’re going.

Check the weather of where you’re going! I’m going pretty far north this summer, and I wasn’t sure how cold it was going to be. Friends who have attended the camp last year really helped though.

Ask about the laundry situation. Depending on where you are headed, you may need laundry detergent and a roll of quarters.
