summer reading assignment?

A few of my friends have received summer reading assignments from the colleges that they will be attending next year. Does Tufts assign any summer homework to incoming freshmen? If yes, when will we receive it?

In the past few years, Tufts has sent a copy of a book to each member of an incoming class, and they expect you to read it and then potentially participate in discussions about it - or listen to speakers - during orientation. For the class of 2010, they were given Mountains Beyond Mountains, a book mainly about Paul Farmer, and they said that if there were enough interest among the students, they’d invite Paul Farmer to lecture. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough interest :frowning: It came a couple months before classes started.

Last year they had All Souls. It was an awesome book and he came to campus to speak.

But you don’t have to read the book they send you.
