Summer Reading for a College Student

I am a female college student who needs some good ideas for summer reading in order to improve vocabulary and reading comprehension. My interests for topics include romance, public/environmental health, political science, and family. Does anyone know of any books that are age-appropriate for an incoming junior?

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Five Days at Memorial, Emma by Jane Austen, The Age of Innocence or Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, A Man Called Ove, LaRose by Louise Erdrich, Sorry I know nothing about political science! You can also google “recommended books for the college bound and lifelong learners” for a long list divided by subject–there was a really great one about girls moving from rural china to work in factories in the city (Factory Girls?)–here it is:

Happy reading! :))

One of my favorite books I’ve read in college is Citizen by Claudia Rankine. It’s written in verse and could easily be read in one sitting. I’m honestly not sure it would help with vocabulary or reading comprehension, but it’s a really good /interesting/informative read to break up the monotony of reading comprehension!
