I am a prospective government major, and I will be attending college this fall at Georgetown University. Among other things to do this summer, I have resolved to read extensively on government- and political-related matters. I am already beginning to compile a repertoire to have ready to go. With that said, I am seeking pithy books on any related subjects. I’m looking more for books with universal and historical themes rather than subjective treatises written by staunch liberals or conservatives in the modern senses of the words.

If you have books to recommend, do include any reviews, cautions, or advice that you may have. While I do read fictional political books, I generally prefer pure theoretical books.

Thanks in advance.
