Summer Reading!!

I have to read Mythology and some books out of King James’ bible like psalms and such. I also have a nice packet of 220 or so open questions for Mythology, haha.

My summer reading list goes…

Visa for Avalon
The Girl with the Pearl Earring
When the Caged Bird Sings
On Black Ice

Not exactly the kind of books I would read for enjoyment but they are required for class so there is no way I can refuse them. -_-

i have to read MYthology and Silas Marner… for sophmore year

Frank Lloyd Wright: An Autobiography
Designing For People
Walden
Ten Books On Architecture

I am gonna take art- architecture related course this summer.

angela’s ashes is good.
i have to read 1984 for summer reading. thats it i guess.

Surprisingly, we don’t have any summer reading assignments for AP English this year, so everything I read this summer is just for leisure. Anyway, I’m reading W. M. Thackeray’s Vanity Fair, and if I can finish that in time, I’ll read Catch-22 and Fitzgerald’s This Side of Paradise. Then I’ll read Salinger’s Nine Stories and maybe Anne Bronte’s Agnes Grey.

cool i wish i didnt have summer reading.

i just read 1984. now i’m going for brave new world. lol

Okie…
Brave New World
1984
Frankenstein

all for A.P. English

Cool, 1984 and Brave New World are good books. I just hope we’ll read something as interesting as those books during the year for AP English.

Well, I graduated this year from high school. But the summer before senior year, I had to read the Salman Rushdie book “Haroun and the Sea of Stories”-- which is short, easy to read and usually very funny and full of symbolism about the Shah of Iran; and “Native Son” by Richard Wright, it was very interesting, sort of heart-breaking, and I also recommend reading it.

run fo cova - I definitely recommend The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. My friend said, “It’s sweet and touching in all the right places.” And it’s just one of those…books. Haha. I’m terribly specific, I know. It is a heartwarming story, though.

My summer reading:

AP Eng:
The House of the Spirits
Wuthering Heights
Nickle and Dimed - On (Not) Getting By in America*

APUSH:
The Jungle
The Autobiography of Malcolm X

*This is actually for all juniors, not just AP English.

For AP english the only one i know of is “Cry, the Beloved Country”. There are three others but the teachers havent told us yet. I only know of this one through others you have taken the AP.
For Gov/Econ AP, we have to read most of one of the gov texts (We the People) and of the following. Can anyone give suggestions as to which one is most interesting?
1)Hardball: How politics is played told by one who knows the game
2)What’s the Matter with Kansas?: How Conservatives Won the Heart of America
3) Don’t think of an elephant: Know your values and Frame the Date
4) What Went wrong in ohio: the conyers report on the 2004 presidential election
5) Worse than Watergate: The secret presidency of George Bush
6) The Daily Show ith Jon Stewart Presents America(The Book): A citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction

Im thinking of reading Whats the Matter with Kansas, but im not really sure…

America The Book is so funny. I wish something as cool as that would be on our summer reading lists. I love the Daily Show and Jon Stewart.

As for my reading for AP English:
-All the King’s Men
-Grapes of Wrath

i hated the grapes of wrath…ah so boring

Brave New World for school
and a few Oprah Book Club books on my own, lol.

Sparknotes. Over the summer i have to read 4 books for H. USH along with about 10 hours of AP chem hw, an essay for AP Euro, textbooks work, 2 history books, and a few hours of AP Bio work.

read a clockwork orange and angelas ashes.

oh and as for grapes of wrath, i hate john steinbeck (the pearl?! horrible). however, there was one amazing, incredible, beautiful, powerful chapter in that book. chapter 14 maybe? i cant really remember exactly which one it is, but it is about revolutions and helping others and some other great stuff. it was awesome. only good thing ive read by john steinbeck.

lol i sparknotes all but about one chapter! good stuff, the pearl is better than grapes… still not great tho…
