Summer Research- art/ humanities related

hello all,

i have a couple of options this summer- i applied to tasp, but in all likelihood i wont get in. my ideal summer though, is to do an internship with independent research on the side most likely in art. how exactly do i legitimize this research on say, a college application? one way might be to get a professor, but ive tried that- no such luck :(. or is it acceptable to just say you did research on your own?

What do you mean research on art? Like art history?

not to go into too much detail, but it would have to do something with contemporary art-- not anything thats commonly studied, so i cant take a class or anything

would the research culminate in a show or in a paper?

i havent decided that yet, but right now both verbal and tangible visual (as opposed to a show)-- hmmm. maybe i can send it in? thats not a bad idea

Maybe you could think of venues where you can present your research? That might make it more legit and then also might open it to others to collaborate and/or comment on. I’m thinking a small local museum or in front of a group or club that would find the subject matter relevant to the mission of the group.
